Sunsara Taylor's National Fall Speaking Tour took her to campuses across the country — Sonoma State University, UC Berkeley, Stanford University, UCLA, University of Minnesota Twin Cities, Cleveland State University, and New York University. These events were sponsored by a broad range of organizations and academic departments — Project Censored and Students for Media Democracy; Radical Friends at UC Berkeley and Revolution Books; Stanford AHA! - Atheists, Humanists and Agnostics; Center for the Study of Religion, UCLA; CASH - Campus Atheists, Skeptics and Humanists at the University of Minnesota; the Black Studies Program at Cleveland State; and Equal Time for Freethought on WBAI-NY and Atheists, Agnostics & Freethinkers at NYU.

The tour included panel discussions with Dr. S. Scott Bartchy (UCLA), Michael Williams, Ph.D., Director of the Black Studies Program (Cleveland State), Massimo Pigliucci (SUNY, Stony Brook) and Paul Ekstein (Bergen Community College), and Father Lawrence Lucas (Harlem).

While visiting campuses, Sunsara also spoke at the Santa Monica Public Library, Amazon/True Colors Bookstore in Minneapolis, and Mac's Backs, Books on Coventry in Cleveland Heights, OH.

Winter brought an exchange between Sunsara and Father Lawrence Lucas on "Unchaining the Mind and Radically Changing the World: Do We Need God or Away With All Gods?" at Hue-Man Bookstore & Cafe in Harlem, NY.  Father Lucas currently serves as a Catholic chaplain at North General Hospital in Harlem and ministers to prisoners on Rikers Island. He has been a long-time fighter against police brutality and racism. The afternoon exchange was moderated by Sibanye, head of the Harlem chapter of the Center for Inquiry.

A highlight of Sunsara's Spring tour was a program at Columbia College in Chicago where a Communist, a Buddhist, and a Priest sat down to discuss "Morality to Change the World With or Without God(s)? The panel included Steve Asma, professor of philosophy and humanities at Columbia College; Bob Bosse, SCJ, a member of the Priests of the Sacred Heart, and a staff member of the 8th Day Center for Justice in Chicago; and Sunsara Taylor.

See the links below for coverage of these exciting events!

New! A Communist, a Buddhist, and a Priest sat down to discuss... Morality to Change the World With or Without God(s)?

On April 7th, a panel discussion with Bob Bossie, Steve Asma, and Sunsara Taylor was held at Columbia College, Chicago. It was an exchange of ideas about God and the role of religion in contemporary life. Is religion a creation of humanity whose time has long passed? Or does it serve some deeper need of human beings or point to a deeper reality? Are beliefs in God(s) obstacles or are these beliefs pathways to understanding and changing the world and to the emancipation of humanity?                                                               Click Here for more information.
